This is a remarkable achievement, and it’s not a mere one or two, it’s a complete city effort. Fitness index are of the opinion that residents have made it possible with increased exercises and less smoking, compared to other US cities.

                           This secret was evaluated by the American College of Sports medicine (ACSM) wherein, every year they make an attempt by ranking 50 healthiest and fittest metropolitan cities within US. This survey is carried out on the basis of American Fitness Index (AFI). Anti-smoking approach contributes a big way in grabbing the seats by Twin cities overcoming Washington DC, in the 2011. However, the high scores of cities are also majorly impacted by the rates of people suffering from chronic illnesses like diabetes, heart disease, asthma, obesity etc.

                           When Minneapolis-St. Paul is concerned, the area of the city in more accumulated by parks and gardens, which was a major element benefitting the city to speed up the scores. In the past years, majority of the market share was accumulated by farmers. This trend have shifted people’s attitude towards healthy living with a positive approach or involving in organics. However, cities like Tenn., Oklahoma, Louisville, Memphis and Ken. ranked amongst the lowest. However, when it is area oriented, every city has is strengths and weaknesses that would contribute a major share in getting or diminishing the numbers.

                                 The Health care industry has not been making any progress and there seems to be a sense of stagnancy around. Medical experts and researchers have forecasted that the consumption levels of prescription drugs are likely to rise in the coming few years because of rapid popularization and smart marketing and advertising. But more and more number of people are now becoming skeptic to use drugs for their problems and they don’t even want to visit a hospital anymore. They would wish to go for either alternative treatment or home care, which they feel is much better.

                                 Besides that, the government wants to cut costs for the health care in a big way and this is affecting the pharmacists as well as the consumers. The insurance companies are trying their level best to control these new moves made by the government. Due to this, the overall turnover the large pharmacies are reducing and their profits are also dwindling. The medicine world is very competitive right now and the overall sales are not looking very good. The price of the Generic drugs has already fallen and now it has been estimated that by next year, the prices of branded drugs will also see a downfall. People now tend to buy more over-the-counter medicines and the branded drug preference is reducing. Cutting health care costs is not the solution.

So this need has prompted all the leading Health Care Organizations of the US to digitize all their medical information. In this way, all the day of their patients can be exchanged in a very safe way. These companies also boost of being the biggest users of the e-health care records.  

                              This collaboration, which was revealed 2 days back in a press conference in Washington DC, has been called as the Care Connectivity Consortium. The operations of CCC is still being worked out and once everything is in place, its members will start sharing small bits of information about the patients pertaining to their medical history, allergies they suffer, the drugs that they take and their basic demographics. This is indeed a very good move, meant to safeguard the welfare of the patients of the US. It will take affect very soon and how effective it would be, that only time will tell.
